"Oh" Christmas Tree

The history of Boston's Christmas Tree...

This amazing tree travels all the way from Nova Scotia, Canada... Why??? Well here it is - On the morning of Thursday December 6, 1917 a French cargo ship the SS Mont-Blanc filled with explosives collided with a Norwegian vessel the SS Imo. The blast was the largest man-made explosion prior to the development of nuclear weapons,[2]releasing the equivalent energy of roughly 2.9 kilotons of TNT[3] (Wikipedia)

Celebrating a Tradition

Halifax in 1918 and every year after - sends the City of Boston, MA a Christmas Tree;one that is displayed downtown at the commons every year - the official Christmas Tree of Boston. This token arrives with a legacy of thanks and remembrance from Nova Scotia for the disaster relief provided by the Boston Red Cross and Massachusetts Public Safety Committee.
